A couple of hours ago my boss walked into my office needing an invoice. Then she casually mentions she's working from home today. Okay. No big deal, we all do that every now and then. Then she tells me why. She has to be home because Playboy is doing a 'Girls of the Pac-10 Conference' shoot at her home.
Playboy. At her home.
Long story short, her home is a brand spankin' new spanish hacienda that is marvelous! It is to die for! And Playboy was in the area scouting (Washington State University about 30 miles to the north), and saw her home along the river. You can't miss this house, it sticks out like a huge landmark. Spanish style architecture in this area is quite uncommon. So the Playboy people contact my boss, Wanda, to inquire about using her home. Interesting that they ask the lady of the house, don't you think? ;) Smart people. After all these years they probably learned...I'm guessing they've probably experienced a few last minute cancellations when the husband said yes, and the wife said no way!
I can just hear the conversation..."Yeah, we want to photograph a bunch of naked women in your home...would you mind?"
But, that's not all....
Here's the really exciting news. Wanda said the Playboy thing is okay, but she's more excited about a possibility that evolved from this. The assistant who evaluated the house tells Wanda that he also shoots for Architectural Digest, and wants to feature her home in the mag. There are still loose ends to finish on the home...landscaping (her hubby is a landscape architech, btw) and other interior things. But the photographer most definitely wants to feature this home.
How cool is that?
I had to laugh though...thinking back to the construction of the home, there isn't a square corner in it and she was constantly at odds with contractor's, but she stuck to her guns. Hmm, looks like it might just pay off.
