Another Chapter Begins...

Lunch hour is winding down and I've just got time for a quick entry and update on stuff since I've been so terribly bad about writing in here.  I've been told I'm too analytical so I'll not take time to sort out, debate or justify that statement.  It is what it is...true.

So quickly, Sam and I started walking on our lunch hour every day last February (Sam actually started a month before me).  We meet for lunch then head down a path along the Clearwater River for about 2.5 miles roundtrip.  There is always lots to see so I started packing my camera with me, hence the photo of the American Avocet landing on the river in the entry below.  In all the years we've been together we rarely had lunch together so it was a nice mid-day treat.  But the weather is getting too hot (90+ already) so the walks have been moved to early morning before we go to work...that means up at 5 a.m.  I slept through today's walk (opps) so I'll be hitting it hard tomorrow.

April marked a rather significant event and forgive me for not bringing it out into the open sooner.  On the 24th I turned fabulous 5-0 and the day turned out to be the best birthday ever.  There were surprises in store everywhere...starting with my family who arranged a covert dinner gathering at a local fine dining establishment.  I knew something was up when Sam's mom offered to cook me dinner, and then when we showed up at her house she sheepishly mentioned something about forgetting to cook.  Right.  I received many wonderful and thoughtful gifts...Amy and Dilynn baked me a confetti cake (yummy too I must add), there were black "Over the Hill" balloons everywhere (surprise) and Sam topped off the evening by leaving me speechless by giving me a gorgeous diamond necklace.  This from a man who once swore up and down diamonds were a waste of money.  Men, it seems, can change if the circumstances are right.  There's hope yet.  :)

I won't be around for the next week, as we will be traveling to Georgia for my nephew's high school graduation this Friday.  Now it's time for the perverbial 'I can't believe he's graduating...seems like just yesterday he was a little baby...'  Of course his mother Chris admitted she couldn't believe I was 50 this year so apparently I'm not the only one trying to wrap myself around the passing of time.

Speaking of time, Dilynn turned 2 earlier this month.  Two, already.  When asked by her monther what she wanted for her birthday, Dilynn replied "Cake."  What kind of cake?  Dora cake.  Chocolate, vanilla...no matter.  She wants cake.  Gotta love the simplicity of a child's wish.

TTFN!

Happy Birthday, Dona!  That Sam is full of surprises, I know you will treasure that necklace.  What part of Georgia will you be in next week?  Anywhere near Savannah?  Have a safe trip!

Happy belated birthday to yourself and Dilynn.  I hope they were wonderful days for you both.  I'm 52 (and my bday is in July). DH and I will be married 35 years in August. In Aug. 1972 I couldn't believe I would ever BE 35 let alone married to the same man for that long. Besides, girl, didn't you get the memo? 50 is the new 30. *winik
Best of everything to you all
Hugs,Barb
