BOOK REVIEW: Where the Forest Meets the Stars

Where the Forest Meets the StarsWhere the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I will admit, the title grabbed my attention, but twenty pages in I thought about reading something else. However, I kept going. Was Ursa an alien? What about this Egg Man? My curiosity piqued, I wanted to know what this story had to offer and where it would take me. I'm glad I did. An original story line and ultimately one that I found endearing on many levels. The characters are believable, there were plenty of plot twists (life...in other words), and it touches on a topic close to my heart...which I won't give away lest I spoil the story. While the author doesn't embellish her work with a lot of descriptions of the character's emotions, the scenery and settings, the details weren't necessary. This isn't really escape fiction...for me anyway. It's a story about complicated people and the dynamic of relationships--healthy or not--how one simple decision can change a person's fate; often for the better. All in all, an enjoyable read.
